We found the Beauceron while looking for a dog who could protect our family, accompany us at work, and be gentle with our young children. Intelligence, confidence, and a willingness to work mattered to us. So did being able to relax together at home.
Then we met Zora. She brought all of that into our lives, along with a presence and beauty that still stop me in my tracks. She is where this story began.

Growing up in our home
Our puppies begin life in a private nursery. As they grow, I introduce them to the sounds, people, handling, and routines they will meet in a family home. Around four through eight weeks, that includes time in our kitchen and learning to use the doggy door.
I watch how each puppy responds and make room for confidence to grow, with plenty of rest along the way. Those early experiences give us a foundation to build on when your puppy comes home to you.

Our First Beauceron Story
Our beloved Zora, our first Beauceron, exceeded our expectations as a guardian and companion!! We believe she is an outstanding representative of the breed. She is alert and serious when needed at work, has plenty of prey drive for sport, and is very friendly and affectionate in social settings. She is an excellent running and hiking partner and will even jump off cliffs into the water with us at the lake! She is very attentive to whoever is handling her and sensitive to emotions and body language. She is our constant shadow, following us from room to room, and never strays from our family when off-leash. She gets along very well with other animals of all sizes, is very tolerant of children and commotion, and is neither dominant nor reactive.
Zora earned her AKC Championship and Grand Champion titles in Conformation and was the #1 Ranked Harlequin Beauceron in 2016. She has earned titles in AKC Obedience, Rally, Canine Good Citizen Advanced and Urban, and a Therapy Dog title. She has also trained in French Ring Sport with Humberto Bobadilla to about the Brevet level.
What matters to me
Joie de Vie means joy of life. For me, that includes time with my family, being out on Lake Mead, camping, training our dogs, and watching someone discover what they and their dog can accomplish together.
I love teaching. When an owner sends a video and we work through something that has been frustrating, seeing them understand their dog and feel confident again is deeply rewarding to me.
My faith and family guide how I treat people. I care about being kind, keeping my word, sharing what I know, and respecting your freedom to make informed decisions.
I am curious by nature. I notice details, ask questions, and enjoy figuring out how things connect. Breeding gives me years to follow those questions in related dogs and learn from what their owners see at home.
You do not need to know everything before bringing your puppy home. I will help you understand what you are seeing, decide what needs attention, and work through the difficult days. I want you to enjoy your dog.
Why I keep asking questions
I established JDV in 2015. Breeding, evaluating, and following our Beaucerons as they grow has shaped the way I see this breed. Structure and movement fascinate me: how a dog is built, how that body functions, and how we can preserve the form and working ability that make this breed itself.
I also pay close attention to how our dogs are raised and cared for. Nutrition, digestion, stress, recovery, and appropriate activity all deserve attention as a dog grows. I want to understand why a dog is developing the way they are, including what I cannot learn from a pedigree or a single test result.
I founded Coordinated Systems Restoration (CSR) and serve as founder and Practice Director of CSR Strategic Health Advisory. My continuing study of biology, physiology, regulation, and reproductive health informs the questions I bring to JDV. Following our dogs through life and across generations gives me more questions to study. I love learning, sharing what I find, and continually improving what we do.
I want you to feel comfortable asking
When you bring home a JDV dog, you have unlimited access to me by text and phone. I also offer video calls when a demonstration would help. I know the breeding, the pedigree, and your puppy’s earliest weeks, and I want to stay involved as your dog matures.
Tell me about the progress you are proud of. Tell me when you are unsure. If something is not going well, I would much rather we talk about it early than have you struggle alone. I will listen, explain what I see, and help you understand the next steps.
I want you to feel capable caring for and training your dog. Whether we are discussing nutrition, training, conditioning, health testing, or a new stage of development, I want you to understand the reasoning behind my guidance.
The people around our dogs
I love seeing experienced handlers encourage beginners, owners share what helped them, and people celebrate a dog’s first small success with the same enthusiasm as a title. A rising tide lifts all boats. We welcome different backgrounds and interests. We share a love of this breed and want to help each other succeed.
As a military family, we also hold a special appreciation for those who serve our country and protect our communities. Service, loyalty, perseverance, and care for others are values we try to live in our own home.
Preserving what we love
I breed with future generations in mind. That means knowing our dogs well, considering health, temperament, structure, and working ability together, and being selective about the qualities each dog could contribute.
Preservation partners enter that work with me. I retain all breeding rights and direct reproductive decisions; cooperation is a commitment from the outset, although every dog will not necessarily be selected to breed. I explain the responsibilities before you commit because I want our partnership to begin with mutual understanding.
